the light.

the light.

One of my photography goals this year (yes, I'm making myself make some goals) is to look for the light. Notice light and shadows, and how they dance together. By looking for the light I think I'll start to notice more than just an obvious subject. I feel like I've struggled with understanding exposure and getting a certain type of light in my photos. I can't really describe what I'm searching for, but I know it when I see it.
This is one example. I was just wandering around, doing things around the house when I noticed how this little sliver of sunlight fell on the magazine holder and edge of the couch. Quick like a bunny (yes, I just said that) I grabbed my camera, thought about my camera settings and took a few photos.
A fine beginning to a little series I'm starting. :)

This is gorgeous! I find myself looking for the light all the time. It's getting easier to find, and often times it draws my eye without me even knowing it. I love that you have goals. It's the best way to learn and grow.

What a great goal for the year. I'm still trying to master the light---see it and know how to use it. Always practicing! :)

I'm always happiest with my photography when I intentionally watch the light and try to work with it. Well done and great goal! :)

Love that your goal is to notice the light. I was just saying that the further I get away from a photography class, the lazier I get about looking for cool and different light. I'm feeling that way now. Thanks for the inspiration. :)

Ah yes....the light! When you are searching for it you'll be amazed at what you find! :-) Can't wait to see what you do with this this year!

I've been learning about that lately, too. Stacey is a really good light finder-- I want my photos to have the kind of light I see in her photos. I know what you mean about not being able to describe the light, but then when it happens feeling like, "yes, that's it!" I just want to figure out how to do it without just getting lucky. :)
