slice of life: camas days.

camas days
We went to our small town's little celebration on Friday, Camas Days. Good food, a few fun things for kids to do, a parade, lots of vendors, beer gardens and wine tasting. It was a fun time in our small, quaint little Camas.

linked 52: time (the first tooth)

toothy grin
We had just pulled out of the driveway to head to the park for a play date when he said,
"Mom, it fell out."
Me (in my head), "Huh? Fell out?..."
"My tooth, it just fell out."
So we turned around to go show dad, who just happened to be home from work Wednesday.
inspecting the tooth
And then we went to our play date. With the tooth in a zip-lock so Max could show his friend, of course. ;-)
so little

those lashes, again...

Will someone please tell me where all of those days and weeks and months and years went?...
Just the other day he was teething.
(excuse me while I grab the kleenex...snilffle, sniffle...)

(So, for these photos I opened the blinds in Max's room and scooted his rocking chair right up to the window light. His room tends to be dark and so I also shot wide open - 1.4. And totally forgot, as usual, that I can adjust the ISO. I do this every.single.time. And it kills me. Because while I adore these photos for the moment and the memory, shooting that wide open left one eye sharp and one eye blurry in all of the photos. Another lesson learned. It's all about the learning!)

linked 52: summer (the light)

golden light
Summer is always about the Golden Hour light. And we get fabulous, perfectly amazing golden light in our backyard. If only I could strip away the houses, I'd have the perfect place to do family shoots - the greenbelt that is our backyard. (This shot is far from glamorous or interesting, but I was painting and when I saw this light I put down the roller, washed the paint off my hands, grabbed my big girl camera, and ran out on our deck.) (How's that for a run-on sentence...)

i love...

the moss

After a week of being so tired of hearing my own voice nag about this and that, I give you my current list of things I'm "hearting". No profound words for you today, my friends. I've got a lot on my mind, but wouldn't know how to express it here if I tried. Wishing you all a lovely week.

This article from Tiny Buddha.

This song by Nichole Nordeman.

Emma Wood's photography. Such a master of light.

The new mellow yellow paint in the family room and kitchen.

The way it cools down into the 50s at night.

Living my dreams vicariously through reading books about medical students. I love a geeky medical book.

Music that moves - Andrew Peterson's  Dancing in the Minefields. Oh friends, take a listen. And then listen again.

This friend's lovely photos

Sleeping in till 9am.

Carmelitas. Go forth and bake. You can thank me later. ;)

linked 52 - to be posted sometime this weekend...

Busy week...
Max in day camp (which meant I had to set my alarm for 7am to get up in time. And of course I still stayed up far too late.)
Painting project in the family room and kitchen. Bye bye olive green. Hello mellow yellow!
And the husband out of town for work and this weekend's STP (Seattle to Portland on  road bikes = crazy!) ride.
And sweet Sammy Sue has destroyed all of the throw cushions for the couch.
I am beyond exhausted...
My Linked post will be up later this weekend.
In the meantime check out my friends' takes on Family.

I took my share of flag photos on the Fourth of July, but I just kept coming back to this photo for this post.

he sleeps.

he sleepsFour days of Vacation Bible School wiped him out, and by Friday he had a cold. It didn't stop him from singing the new songs they had learned, but by early evening I found him asleep.
blankie

lashes

Look at those lashes...the girls are going to love him. When I see him like this two thoughts come to mind: I wonder what he dreams of, and my-oh-my I sure hope he knows and feels the depth of my love for him.
