tgif! random edition.

rain drops

The first two days of June have been filled with lots of clouds, a few downpours, and the occasional glimpse of sun. One day I'm totally used to it and it doesn't bother me. And the next - it's so dark and grey and wet and dreary. It's supposed to hit the low 80s this weekend. But I've lived in the Pacific Northwest long enough to know that seeing is believing when it comes to weather.

I finally uploaded Elements to the desktop. And after it was loaded I sat there wondering, "Now what?" I'm excited to have it, but feeling overwhelmed at where to start. So overwhelmed. Since I don't have any good books on Elements I've decided to start by creating a watermark for my photos. Should be simple enough, right? We shall see...

Not a lot going on around here. Max has started swim lessons and seems to like it. He's a little hesitant about putting his face in the water, but most kids are at this age, right? And this big kid is still afraid to put her face in the water. (Maybe I should be taking lessons?)

I haven't been posting much this week because I kind of don't really feel like I have anything interesting to say. Not that that has stopped me from posting some randomness before. But you know how sometimes the randomness sounds just fine, and sometimes, if you really think about it, the randomness sounds, well, just so random and dull? (Already, this post sounds so dull.)

I haven't taken all that many photos lately either. Yesterday, between rain showers, Max and I ventured into the backyard for a bit, and I brought my camera with me. I actually took quite a few photos. I'll post a few next week. Oh, but I was shocked yesterday to see this photo posted on the Shutter Sisters 365 page.

I guess that's all I really have to say for now. Sorry this post isn't more exciting. I guess it's hard to write about things when none of it sounds very exciting in my head. Anyway...I hope you all have a great weekend! And get out there and enjoy the sunny, warm weather if you have it! You know where I'll be if the sun comes out!

Happy Friday, friends.

How exciting to get Elements...and to be selected at Shutter Sisters. Congrats. Love the simplicity of both images (there and here) and your watermark. Love that.

Ironically, I used Picnik.com to edit the photo above. I don't know how to do anything in Elements yet, except run actions. LOL. Still working on a watermark...not sure what style I'm going for...

I love this photo so much for the light and shadows to it and the depth. A good photo to catch if you haven't been taking many lately!
Go on youtube for Elements stuff. There are also some free tutorials I believe on Elements Village. Once you get the hang of it you will love it.

Got your comment about my PI pic. I know what you mean about trying to find people! I can never find you on there. I have another blogger friend on there that I have NEVER seen. Couldn't even tell she was a part of the class!

Have a good weekend Andrea. I read your post about your seizures and Iam praying that you are healed from them. My friend's daughter had her first one last year--she's a grad student. She's had two more in the past year. Same thing, one was in the shower and she found herself on her bed! The last one was in front of her fiance at the dinner table. Up until then she had been alone every time but this time he got to witness it and he's a med student so he was able to give the doctors great details! Every time I pray for her I will include you!

I agree with Tracey....go on youtube for Elements. TONS of videos that go through things step by step. It is overwhelming at first, but you'll get the hang of it!

You shouldn't have been surprised to see that lovely photo on Shutter Sisters! It is one of my favorites of yours!

And thank you for your comment on my blog about your concern and your insight on letting go. So much truth in your words. It's just been a stressful week, a lot going on and I feel like I'm in a bit of a rut. Working the weekend and hoping to start off fresh on Monday. Hugs right back at chaya.

I love random posts. ;)

I'm still really learning Elements too. I'll send you a link via email to a couple helpful videos I've watched. It's just so much trial and error - a lot like the photography itself!

Way to go on the Shutter Sisters 365! I loved that photo. It's wonderful when others validate our "work" and see it as beautiful and unique, isn't it? For all the times when we doubt ourselves, these little affirmations definitely make up for it. I realize that's not why we take photos but you know what I mean, right??! ;)
